Dr. Gladding receives the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award from UNCG
The School of Health and Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro recently announced that Sam Gladding (PhD ’77), chair and professor in Wake Forest’s Department of Counseling, has been selected as the recipient of its Distinguished Alumni Award.
This award is the highest honor given by the School of Health and Human Sciences to its outstanding alumni. It recognizes persons who have attained national and/or international stature through their achievements in one of more of these areas: teaching, scholarship, professional or civic service, administration, professional or civic leadership, creative endeavors, human relations, and inspiration.
Upon hearing of his selection, Dr. Gladding responded: “Recognition is always nice but it is humbling as well as gratifying. This honor surprised and pleased me. It is not something I ever expected. I like to think I do what I do because it is helpful to others, betters their lives, and in the process brings me joy.”
Dr. Gladding will receive his award at a reception to held on April 12th, during the UNCG Alumni Weekend celebrations. The Department congratulates Dr. Gladding on receiving this award!
