All across the country, students from Wake Forest University’s online Counseling program are preparing for a trip to Winston Salem. The weekend of December 12-15 is the next residency weekend for online counseling students, specifically for those from our third cohort.

Twice during their academic program, each cohort of students travels to Wake Forest’s campus in Winston Salem for a residency weekend, which lasts from Thursday evening until Sunday afternoon.  These face-to-face sessions allow faculty to evaluate student competency and professional readiness,  as well as to plan and evaluate field experiences (human services) or practicum and internship (counseling) arrangements. During this long weekend, students complete their specific program’s experiential group requirements,  participate in community service projects, and also get to meet face to face with professors and classmates whom they have previously met only online.
