Dr. Johnson and Dr. Ivers Present at 2026 Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling Annual Conference

Recently, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Ivers attended the 2026 Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling Annual Conference in Dallas, TX. The theme of the AARC Conference was: Bridging Assessment & Research with Practice: Data-Driven Counseling for Meaningful Change

While there, they presented some of their findings on research they are conducting. The title of their presentation was Pilot study for the MARS Group: Preliminary findings and practical challenges.

The AARC Conference was a great opportunity to share the research on counseling counselor training that we are doing, and to learn from other researchers. We were excited to share some preliminary findings from an ongoing pilot study of the Mindful Awareness and Relational Skills (MARS) Group, a group designed to help new counselors improve therapeutic relationships with clients through fostering in-session mindful awareness. – David Johnson
