The Counseling Compact Full Commission meeting was held on September 2, 2026 , where delegates from all member states met to continue refining governing rules and provide updates on current progress and projections. Three rules were adopted at this meeting: Conversion of Privilege to a Home State License, which establishes a uniform process for a counselor who changes their primary residence; Consistent Credentialing, which clarifies the designation given when a counselor obtains privilege to practice in a different state; and Supervised Postgraduate Experience, which requires member states to mandate supervised postgraduate professional experience before full licensure.
As of this meeting, nine states have officially began issuing privileges to counselors who reside in member states that are also active in the Compact: Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wyoming. Additional states are set to go live in the next 2-3 months. Pennsylvania is the latest state to join the Counseling Compact, bringing the total number of states to 40. Over 2,600 privileges have been issued so far, with almost 40% of licensees holding privileges in more than one state.
