The National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) has been translated to Spanish and will be available beginning Oct. 1, 2026. The Spanish form of the NCMHCE can be used to fulfil the examination requirement for the NCC and CCMHC credentials. Please check with your state licensure board to inquire if it will also meet the requirements for licensure.
As part of our ongoing efforts to support Counselors, Counselor Educators, and Counselors-in-training, this new examination option will give Spanish-speaking individuals an opportunity to test in their own language rather than requesting an ESL accommodation. Delivery options for the Spanish translation of the examination will be the same as the English version, with testing available in any Pearson testing center or online via OnVUE. Using the Credentialing Gateway, when registering for an examination as part of a certification (NCC and/or CCMHC) application, the student will select NCMHCE-SP for their examination.
Please share information about this new opportunity with your students and colleagues. We are especially looking for candidates to test in October, if possible. Questions about examination registration or administration should be emailed to or .
